To the Editor:

The Connecticut Alliance for Retired Americans (CTARA) enthusiastically endorses Kate Farrar for State Representative in the 20th District ( West Hartford). CTARA has witnessed the initiative and hard work of Kate in fighting for seniors and retirees.

We worked with Kate as she was one of the leaders of the Paid Family Medical Leave ( PFML) coalition. In 2019, the broad coalition of advocates formed by Kate’s leadership successfully passed PFML into law. Now workers in Connecticut will not have to choose between their job and taking time off for the birth or adoption of a child or caring for ill family members, including grandparents.

Kate is also a proven champion for preserving and strengthening Social Security. She served with the CTARA on a panel espousing the importance of strengthening this vital program and testified. before a U.S. Congressional Committee in support of Social Security in 2019.

As State Representative, Kate will champion the security all seniors deserve, including expanding Medicaid and reducing prescription drug costs.

Kate has the wisdom, energy and grace to serve in the Connecticut General Assembly and will make the priorities of retirees and working families of the 20th District her priority.
