To the Voters of West Hartford:

From left: Leon Davidoff, Harry Captain, and former West Hartford Mayor Scott Slifka campaign together in 2013. Submitted by Harry Captain

I served with Leon Davidoff, I know Leon Davidoff, Leon Davidoff is a friend of mine. Most candidate(s) for Town Council are no Leon Davidoff (props Senator Lloyd Bentsen).

Having served with Leon for five years on the Town Council, and from many years partnering with him “Town & Gown” while on the Board of Education, I can attest to the high quality and positive stewardship of Leon’s many years of dedicated service.

Leon understands what makes West Hartford a premier, Top 50 Best Place to Live in the United States (Money Magazine): safe streets (Public Safety), successful students exceptionally prepared in award winning public schools, and prudent zoning that maximizes “smart-growth” without tax incentive giveaways to developers.

For many people, the home is their largest investment. Your West Hartford investment outperforms most towns in Harford county – growing in value faster in good times, while being the first to recover after tough times.

West Hartford success is not an accident. For decades, an engaged community with high expectations has held its elected accountable and demanded excellence. Now is the time to recognize West Hartford success.

On Tuesday, Nov. 5, re-elect Leon Davidoff and the Democrats who have led West Hartford’s success for nearly two decades. They’ve earned your vote.

Harry J. Captain
(The writer served the West Hartford Town Council from 2011-15 and Board of Education from 2001-2009.)

  • Yesterday ,while going thru the intersection of Flatbush Aves and New Park, I saw a panhandler on each corner. As you continue to raise our taxes will you be giving us ideas of where we can stand?
