To the Editor:

I am writing to express my support for Al Cortes for the West Hartford Town Council.

I met Al for the first time when he expressed his interest in seeking a seat on the Town Council, and have been impressed by his background, work ethic, and his ability to quickly grasp the important issues facing the town.

Al grew up in Hartford, served in the Connecticut Army National Guard, spent 20 years working for the State Department of Corrections, served as a union steward, and volunteers in his community and church. These experiences will serve him well as a member of the Council, and particularly his knowledge of labor contracts and benefit issues.

I have observed Al in various settings listening to residents and discussing their concerns. He is an engaged, active listener, and has a genuine interest in solving problems and serving the residents of West Hartford, including the Elmwood area where he resides.

Please consider voting for Al Cortes for West Hartford Town Council on Tuesday, Nov. 5, and the rest of the Republicans on Row B.

Chris Barnes
Minority Leader, West Hartford Town Council

Editor’s Note: Chris Barnes is currently a member of the West Hartford Town Council but is not seeking re-election.
