The Liberty Bank Foundation has awarded a $5,000 grant to the Bridge Family Center of West Hartford to support its Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI) program.

“We’re proud to support programs like this that encourage parents to be advocates for their children’s health, safety and learning,” said Toral Maher, program officer with the Liberty Bank Foundation.

“We are very grateful for the Liberty Bank Foundation’s generous support of PLTI,” said Bridge Executive Director Margaret A. Hann. “This 20-week program teaches parents who want to improve the lifelong health, safety, and learning of children how to become practiced change agents for the next generation. Through PLTI, they will become better parents, community leaders, and learn how to advocate effectively for the best interests of all children.”

Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, the Liberty Bank Foundation has awarded more than $10 million in grants to nonprofit organizations within Liberty Bank’s market area since its inception. The foundation seeks to improve the quality of life for people of low or moderate income by investing in three areas: education to promote economic success for children and families; affordable housing; and basic human needs, such as food and shelter. Along with its grant-making, the foundation strives to foster the convening and collaboration of nonprofits, funders, business, and government to address community issues.

Based in West Hartford, CT, the Bridge Family Center is a comprehensive, regional nonprofit agency that provides a broad range of services for children and families throughout the Greater Hartford area. Founded in 1969, the Bridge offers a safe haven for children and families in crisis as well as positive, healthy intervention and prevention programs.

Established in 1825, Liberty Bank is Connecticut’s oldest bank, with $4.5 billion in assets and 55 banking offices throughout the central, eastern, and shoreline areas of the state. As a full-service financial institution, Liberty offers consumer and commercial banking, home mortgages, insurance, and investment services. Named as a “Top Workplace” by the Hartford Courant for five consecutive years, Liberty maintains a longstanding commitment to superior personal service and unparalleled community involvement.
