The board of the West Hartford Women’s Chorale is delighted to announce that Susan Barone Chrzanowski has been selected to become their new music director.

Chrzanowski has been an arts administrator, music education conductor and vocal specialist for over 30 years with vocalists and instrumentalists of all ages. She is the current head of Performing Arts at The Loomis Chaffee School, where she has been since 1998.

She brings with her specializations in global choral music, attention to genre and vocal style, healthy vocal production and engagement, and interface with the community.

Her wide-ranging experience in a variety of educational, community, civic and theatrical settings make her a perfect fit for a community chorale organization that seeks to enrich lives through music that is available to all women and the community.

Chrzanowski says that she is excited to join the WHWC as director because “it is a well-established community ensemble devoted to women’s voices who not only emphasizes music composed by women but also melds meaningful vocal music experience with community engagement through ongoing outreach projects.”

The new 2024-25 WHWC season under Chrzanowski’s direction begins on Sept. 10 and 17 with two open rehearsals for new and returning members. Open rehearsals will take place at Temple Sinai, 41 West Hartford Rd., Newington, from 7-8:45 p.m.
