Last year’s “Sparks Fly” fundraising event, held in April, was a resounding success, bringing together the incredible talents of Arts students from West Hartford’s Conard and Hall High Schools. For a second year, this unique collaboration, following the week of Earth Day, will showcase students’ creative expression through visual arts and music, while raising significant funds for The Nature Conservancy.

Music educator Alfredo Grado and Visual Arts educator and Supervisor Pam Murphy are the creators of “Sparks Fly.” They designed this experience to provide a platform for high school visual artists and musicians to share their talents and to cultivate community connections.

Grado and Murphy also maintain their vision of creating a space of belonging through the Arts. This student-led event will feature live performances by guitar students and an exhibition of artwork by visual arts students, creating an immersive and inspiring experience.

The Nature Conservancy, a leading environmental organization, will be the beneficiary of all donations collected during the event. The funds raised will contribute to their ongoing efforts to protect and restore vital ecosystems in Connecticut.

Doors open at 6 p.m. on Thursday, May 1 at the West Hartford Town Hall Auditorium for this exciting event that is open to students, families, and community members who are interested in supporting the cause and celebrating the artistic expression of  the town’s young performers and artists. Student creations will also be available for purchase.

The celebration, including performances, exhibits, student vendors, and a raffle featuring generous donations from the community, will run until 8 p.m.
