Senate Strengthens Municipal Open Space Requirements

All Democrats in the state Senate voted for the change.

Towns and cities will more often have to find land to replace any open space they use for development under a bill passed by the state Senate Wednesday.

The legislation, Senate Bill 294, expands an existing law to include cases in which a municipality converts or repurposes open space already in its possession or develops land which it acquired in other ways than purchasing it.
