The ShopRite of West Hartford is proud to welcome a new Registered Dietitian, Shana Griffin of West Hartford, to the team. With a background in healthcare and clinical nutrition, Shana has a strong understanding of the connection between food and a person’s overall health. “My passion is to help people live healthier lives through food and nutrition education, while helping them to navigate the grocery store, which can be overwhelming,” Shana said.

Shana has an office in the store, located on the corner of Kane and Prospect streets, and will offer a variety of free health and wellness services, including one on one nutrition consultations, grocery store tours, weight management and culinary workshops as well as food sampling and recipe demonstrations. Shana is one of two dietitians for Joseph Family Markets; whereas Shana will focus on the West Hartford area, Dietitian Kristen Ludwig works out of the Canton store.

Chuck Joseph, president of Joseph Family Markets, a family business that owns and operates the ShopRites in Canton and West Hartford, is committed to supporting the health and wellness of his associates, customers and community. “Our dietitians are an invaluable resource to our associates and customers, providing expert advice and support for their nutrition and health needs,” Joseph said. “What better place to have such a resource than right here at the grocery store.”

Having two dietitians on staff allows for greater focus on the specific needs of customers in each store, providing guidance on a wide range of topics, from learning how to shop and prepare healthy meals, to proper nutrition for specific health conditions and dietary needs. All nutritional services are available to customers free of charge. To make an appointment, customers can call 860-233-1713 for Shana in the West Hartford store and 860-693-3666 for Kristen in the Canton store.
