3/28/16 UPDATE: This event keeps getting more and more appealing. Not only will you get a night off from cooking dinner while supporting your local neighborhood association, the organizers have just announced that complimentary chair massages from two licensed therapists with MASSAGE ENVY will be available at the event on Thursday. Get your tickets in advance to save $5 off the full price by clicking here.
3/24/16 UPDATE: With a week until the first Taste of Bishops Corner, organizers are thrilled to add MOOYAH Burgers Fries and Shakes to the lineup. And, for a very nice musical touch, Northwest Catholic High School is providing a pianist for the evening. Pianist is Claire Nicholas and she is a junior at the school.
Event organizers Bob Fressola, representing the Bishops Corner Neighborhood Association, and Tom Hickey, for West Hartford Magazine have decided to offer a senior citizen ticket rate of $20 for the Senior Center and Mercy Community members interested in attending. (Special rate will be honored at the door, please call 860-508-4032 to be put on the list).
3/17/16 UPDATE: Just added: Crown Market will be at the Taste of Bishops Corner showcasing some goodies from their catering menu! Please watch this post, Facebook event and the Business Buzz column on Monday for updates. Advance tickets are only $25 and are available by clicking here, and event organizers are expecting a sell out so they are not guaranteeing that tickets will be available at the door.
ORIGINAL STORY:
Organizers are keeping some secrets, but to whet your appetite, three of the participants for the “Taste of Bishops Corner” (TOBC) have already been announced, and include Blue Plate Kitchen, Harry’s Bishops Corner and Abby Dabby Ice Cream and Treats.
The official TOBC event is scheduled for Thursday, March 31, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., and is sponsored by Simon Konover Company and Anytime Fitness. It will take place in The Mercy Community‘s Saint Mary Home Auditorium, 291 Steele Rd., West Hartford (accessible from parking lot D).
Blue Plate Kitchen is known for its modern take on “simple” comfort food. According to the restaurant’s website: “You cannot produce great food unless you start with great raw products. We work hard to source the best local, seasonal, sustainable products. This means focusing on farm-to-table produce, dock-to chef seafood, all-natural meats, artisan cheeses, and working with great purveyors.”
Harry’s Bishops Corner, which has been owned by Kevin and Anne Plaut since 2007, is a legendary pizza restaurant in West Hartford. Kevin is head chef, and Harry’s gives careful attention to classic Italian ingredients, a changing seasonal menu, and great service. Harry’s has also become known for offering a gluten free menu.
Abby Dabby Ice Cream and Treats, (named for Abby Congdon), plans to offer TOBC guests a sampling from among its 26 flavors of all-natural, super-premium hard ice cream, soft-serve ice cream, and/or frozen yogurt.
We can’t wait to see what they serve at TOBC!
Tickets for TOBC are now for sale on We-Ha.com. Click here to purchase tickets for $25 in advance. If any tickets remain, they will be $30 at the door.
TOBC is also a fundraiser to benefit the Bishops Corner Neighborhood Association, and is sponsored in part by West Hartford Magazine, We-Ha.com, Taylor Rental Party Plus, Merchant Solutions, CTfastrak and the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce.
