Hartford’s very own celebrity Chef Tyler Anderson of Porrón&Piña was chosen to prepare Mark Twain’s reported fantasy American meal, including: smoked raccoon and turtle soup among other delicacies.
This dinner was put together for Audible as part of the production of Twain’s Feast, hosted by Nick Offerman. Anderson and an eclectic group of celebrities including Offerman, Jeff Tweedy, Wanda Sykes, Dr. Christina Greer, and author Andy Beahrs met in the Twain House in Hartford to wine and dine in the essence of the eccentric Twain. Their dinner conversation was recorded and will be featured on the Audible recording, which releases on Nov. 2.
“I’ve concocted a lot of interesting dishes in my life, but this dinner forced me to redefine my notion of traditional American cuisine,” chided Anderson.
The popular Chef and his award-winning team at Porrón&Piña will also be cooking for this year’s Twain Gala. Twain’s love of food will be the focus of the 2018 Mark Twain House & Museum Gala fundraiser, to be held Saturday, Nov. 3 at 6 p.m. at the Goodwin Hotel – where Porrón&Piña recently opened in downtown Hartford. This annual event to benefit The Mark Twain House & Museum will feature Anderson’s delectable preparations based on some of the food items highlighted in the Audible book.
