University of Saint Joseph Offering $100,000 ‘Catholic Promise’ Scholarship

Applications are now open for the new $100,000 ‘Catholic Promise’ Scholarship at the University of Saint Joseph in West Hartford.

The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) today opened applications for what is thought to be the most financially rewarding national scholarship for Catholic high school graduates.
The $100,000 ($25,000 per year) merit and need-based USJ Catholic Promise Scholarship is available to any incoming fall 2020 first-year or transfer student who has met the following criteria:
- Completed four years of study and graduated from a regionally-accredited Catholic high school
- Earned at least a 3.0 unweighted high school GPA at the time of admission to USJ
- Enrolls as a full-time residential USJ student with an active campus housing assignment in fall 2020
Catholic Promise scholarships of $25,000 annually are renewable for up to four years if the recipient maintains full-time enrollment, resides on campus, and if academic conditions are met while enrolled at USJ.
“Since our founding in 1932, our mission has been to help deserving students access the best college education and experience possible to meet their goals, and to graduate students who are ready to serve society,” said President Rhona Free. She continued, “Today, we are launching what we believe is the most generous national scholarship of its kind for Catholic high school students who want to continue their education at a University that integrates mission and its Core Values into the student college experience, from academic curriculum to student activities.”
Recently recognized by U.S. News & World Report as Connecticut’s No. 2 school in Best Value for National Universities, after Yale University, this scholarship along with comprehensive student financial services throughout their education with USJ demonstrates the University’s commitment to sustaining its commitment to offering degrees with values and value.
