The West Hartford Art League will be holding an exhibit of self-portraits by fifteen artists in its Saltbox Gallery from Sept. 8 – Oct. 2.

Images were created in a variety of mediums from pencil , paint, pen and ink, photography and mosaic and will be hung next to photographs of the artists.

Executive Director Roxanne Stachelek said she “saw the idea in a gallery in Florida and thought it was a great show. I like the fact that artists are asked to look inward at themselves for a change. It’s also an opportunity to exhibit a variety of work by local artists.”

Participating artists include Paul Batch, Julie Phillips, Phyllis Meredith, Clare Philips, Elisabeth McBrien, Sandy Chase and others.

The opening reception will take place Thursday, Sept. 8, from 6 – 8 p.m. in the Saltbox Gallery at 37 Buena Vista Rd. For more information, please log onto our website at westhartfordart.org or call the office at (860) 231-8019.

Gallery hours for the exhibit are ThursdaySunday from 1-4 p.m. or by appointment with the director.
