West Hartford BRAVE Girls Leadership Programs Helps Send Girls to School
Audio By Carbonatix
Thanks to the work of students from West Hartford and some other towns, BRAVE will be sending 24 girls in third-world countries to school.
Submitted by Leslie Bruenn, Sedgwick Middle School
The BRAVE Girls Leadership Program will be able to send 24 girls to school through The Heifer International Organization. The participating schools collecting coins include: West Hartford, Storrs, and Farmington, CT, and two schools in Levittown, NY.
All donations go to Heifer International. The funds go towards paying for the tuition, books, and school uniform of girls in developing countries. It costs $275 to send one girl to school for one year! Last year we were able to send 7 girls to school, and this year our goal was to double that to 14!
Here is what we collected:
- University of St. Joseph in total collected $1,067.10
- Sedgwick in total collected $1,089.55
- Conard in total collected $176.56
- Farmington High School in total collected $549.62
- BRAVE Interns in total collected $131.49
- Island Trees Memorial Middle School collected $2,750
- Island Trees High School in total collected $900
