The West Hartford Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the launch of the West Hartford Chamber Foundation, a new charitable organization dedicated to strengthening the community through education, workforce development, leadership initiatives, and community-based programs.

Established as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the Foundation creates new opportunities to support projects and partnerships that expand access to resources, foster economic vitality, and enhance the quality of life for residents throughout West Hartford and the surrounding region. While the Chamber will continue its mission of supporting local businesses and advancing economic growth, the Foundation will broaden that impact by pursuing charitable, educational, and community initiatives that benefit the community as a whole.

The Foundation’s mission is to promote and enhance the economic, civic, cultural, and social well-being of West Hartford through collaborative educational and community-based initiatives that expand opportunity and support sustainable growth.

“The West Hartford Chamber Foundation represents an investment in people, relationships, and the future of our community. Strong communities are the result of intentionality. They are built when people choose to invest in one another and create opportunities for others to succeed,” said West Hartford Chamber Foundation Board Chair Chris Clarke of Webster Bank. He adds that he looks forward to seeing the Foundation “develop future leaders and strengthen the connections that make West Hartford such a remarkable place.”

West Hartford Chamber President & CEO Chris Conway said, “The creation of the West Hartford Chamber Foundation opens the door to new partnerships and expanded opportunities to serve our community. By establishing a 501(c)(3), we can collaborate with businesses, nonprofits, educational institutions, and philanthropic organizations in new ways, allowing us to grow programs, pursue additional funding sources, and increase our collective impact. Many Chambers across the country use affiliated foundations to complement the work of their 501(c)(6) organizations, creating opportunities that would not otherwise be possible.”

Joining Clarke on the Foundation’s founding board are Christine Looby of Trinity Health Senior Communities, who serves as Secretary; Aaron Frankel of Franklin & Frankel, who serves as Legal Counsel; Mary Kay Curtiss of CliftonLarsenAllen and Bernard Kavaler of Express Strategies, who serve as Directors; and Mark Walker of On The Court, who serves as Treasurer. Together, the founding board brings a range of professional perspectives to the Foundation as it establishes its programs, partnerships, and philanthropic priorities.
