Jaguar Hartford, the Connecticut MG Club, Austin Healey Club of America, and Lime Rock Park are teaming up to support JDRF’s mission is to better treat, prevent, and cure Type 1 Diabetes. T1D is an autoimmune disease in which a person’s pancreas stops producing insulin, and it can happen to anyone at any time. The “Rallye for a Cure” is a grassroots event created to empower people to take action in the fight against T1D by using their classic cars to spark awareness.

Founders Linda and Bill Wright started this annual road rally to support their son, Jack Wright, who was diagnosed with T1D six years ago.

Linda does what she can to support JDRF and states, “I don’t have the scientific knowledge to cure my son’s disease, but I can most certainly raise funds for the researchers who do, and I remain optimistic that we will find a cure soon.”

Bill Wright, an avid car enthusiast, created this event to combine his love for vintage cars with his passion to help cure T1D.

Jack, age 17, helps coordinate and run the “Rallye for a Cure.” Jack is a high honors student at Hall High School in West Hartford where he participates in music and plays on the varsity tennis team. He will be attending Hamilton College in the fall.

The family is honored by the community’s support of this fundraiser, and are proud that the amount of participants and funds raised doubled last year. “Most everyone who participated our first year came back the second year AND brought a friend! It’s a huge compliment that the rallye-goers thought enough of the event to come back, and introduce a friend to it as well.”

Last year, the event hosted 100 participants and raised over $15,000 for JDRF.

The public is welcome to participate! Vintage and Sports Car owners are welcome to join in the Rallye portion of the event. Registration information can be found online (https://sites.google.com/site/rallyeforacure/home).

The public is invited to come view all the cars at Jaguar Hartford (133 Leibert Rd., Hartford) from 8:30-9:30 a.m., and enjoy the complimentary breakfast, silent auction, and logo item sale. Car owners will embark on the road rallye at 9:30 a.m., winding their way on some beautiful, scenic roads of Connecticut before ending at the Lime Rock Park, where they will enjoy a Parade Lap and catered lunch.
