Thanks to access to matching funds from Sustainable CT, West Hartford’s Juneteenth committee is working hard to make preparations for this year’s event on Saturday, June 15, 2024, outside the east entrance to Town Hall.

Juneteenth is the day that marks the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates African American freedom, achievement, and contribution.  Now in its forth year, West Hartford’s celebration is a vibrant showcase of culture, resilience, and unity.

Donations and matching funds from Sustainable CT ensure that West Hartford’s Juneteenth Celebration remains FREE to all who attend.

Sustainable CT’s Community Match Fund provides financial support to grassroots initiatives that strive to educate and transform communities.  The fund has committed to matching $6,000 in private donations, with the goal of helping the Juneteenth Celebration reach its fundraising goal of $12,000.

In order to receive the full matching funds, Juneteenth organizers need to raise $6,000 in private donations and is asking the community for its help.  Donations will help pay the costs for the celebration’s entertainment, speakers, artists, supplies and educational activities.

The organizing committee asks that you please consider donating to West Hartford’s 2024 Juneteenth Celebration by visiting https://www.patronicity.com/project/2024_west_hartford_community_juneteenth#!/ by May 14, 2024.
