The War Chiefs, West Hartford’s 19U girl’s lacrosse team, participated in the 28th Annual Nutmeg State Games Sunday Aug. 7 in New Britain and came home with the gold for the second straight year.

The team, made up mostly of present and former Conard and Hall girls lacrosse players, made it to the finals by beating Wallingford (13-3), Granby (11-0), Amity (11-3) and the Southeast Sound (13-2) in the qualifying rounds before beating Lax Rox (19-11) in the semifinal.

On Sunday evening, the War Chiefs took on Trumbull for the second straight year in the gold medal final. In a very close match the War Chiefs took the gold with a 9-8 victory.
