West Hartford Mayor Shari Cantor will give her first “State of the Town” address to the community on Jan. 26 2017, providing a look back at the past year as well as her view of the future.

She will take questions from the audience following her speech.

“The West Hartford Chamber of Commerce is excited to host the Mayors first State of the Town address at the Hartford Golf Club, said Executive Director Barbara Lerner. “We are excited to hear her speak of her vision for the future of West Hartford.”

In 2016, after a State of the Town speech that outlined the strengths of West Hartford and the town’s ability to face budget challenges, then-Mayor Scott Slifka shocked the audience by announcing his plans to resign due to business obligations of his new job as deputy general counsel of the LEGO Group.

Cantor, a lifelong resident of West Hartford, was elected mayor on May 17, 2016. She had been deputy mayor since 2011 and a member of the Town Council since 2004.

In addition to serving as West Hartford’s mayor, Cantor, a graduate of Hall High School who has a degree in accounting from the University of Connecticut and her CPA, is actively involved with many other volunteer organizations. She is a member of the UConn Board of Trustees, West Hartford Chamber of Commerce, West Hartford Rotary, a board member of the West Hartford Art League, and volunteers for Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, the Jewish Federation of Greater Hartford, and other nonprofit organizations.

The State of the Town luncheon will be held on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2017, from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Hartford Golf Club. More details can be found on the flier below.

This is historically a sold-out event and advance registration is required. Reservations can be made online through the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce website by clicking here. For more information contact the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce office at 860-521-2300.
