West Hartford Police responded to the area of Elmhurst Circle in West Hartford late Tuesday night on the report of noises that the caller said sounded like gunfire.
Police said Wednesday that they confirmed evidence of gunshots having been fired.
According to Capt. Daniel Moffo, the report was received at approximately 11:01 p.m. on Oct. 31, from an individual who reported having heard a series of “pops” in the Elmhurst Circle area.
Multiple others police interviewed at the scene also reported hearing the “pop” sounds, and believed they were consistent with gunfire.
The Detective Division launched an investigation, Moffo said, and two holes caused by gunshots were located. One shot had been fired into an unoccupied parked vehicle, and the other hole was found in an occupied building.
Police said there were no reported injuries and they believe this was an isolated incident and said there is no known no threat to the general public.
The investigation remains actively underway, police said, and they are asking the public to share any information that may be of assistance.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any other information available should contact the West Hartford Police Department at 860-523-5203, or via the anonymous tip line 860-570-8969 or email [email protected].
