West Hartford Police: Robbery Suspect Punched Macy’s Loss Prevention Officer

West Hartford Police said a male suspect who was attempting to shoplift merchandise from Macy’s on Tuesday punched a loss prevention officer.

West Hartford Police are seeking a looking for a man who punched a loss prevention officer who confronted him as the suspect was attempting to flee the Macy’s store at Westfarms with stolen merchandise.

While all of the merchandise was recovered, police said, a pocketknife was also found at the scene.

According to police, the incident was reported at 4:53 p.m. Tuesday. The suspect had been collecting merchandise inside Macy’s and was attempting to leave without paying.

Loss prevention officers confronted the suspect, and according to police the suspect punched one of the officers, who sustained minor injuries that did not require medical attention.

The suspect, described by police as a Black male, is approximately 6 feet tall and was last seen wearing a black jacket, black shirt, and jeans. He fled the scene in a red SUV, police said.
