The Hall High School community was informed Friday morning by Principal Dan Zittoun of the tragic loss of a 10th grade student as a result of an “untimely death.”

Superintendent of Schools Tom Moore said late Friday afternoon that he had been meeting with a crisis team throughout the day.

“We want to respect the privacy of the family,” Moore said. The name of the student will not be released at this time.

According to a letter sent by Zittoun to parents and guardians Friday morning, Hall students had been provided with the “essential facts about the loss” in a statement to try to limit the spread of false information. Teachers were advised to communicate with students about it, and let student know that counseling support would be available if needed.

“We ask that you be vigilant in observing your child’s response to this unfortunate news,” Zittoun wrote in the letter to parents and guardians.

Moore and Zittoun said that support staff will be available throughout next week and as long as necessary to assist students.

“All of our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time,” Moore said.
