On Monday, June 15, United Artists Salon in West Hartford will partner with Journey Home in Hartford for Haircuts for Humanity.

We all know how transformative a simple haircut can be. United Artists will offer free haircuts with the hope of bringing a renewed sense of confidence and self-esteem to our friends and neighbors experiencing homelessness.

Local businesses are also getting involved in this effort. Park Road’s Effie’s Place, A.C. Petersen, and Zest 280 will all be contributing food. Post Road Stages in Glastonbury will be providing transportation from area shelters to the salon.

Anyone can sponsor a haircut and all proceeds will go to Journey Home in Hartford as they continue to lead the effort of ending chronic homelessness in the Greater Hartford region. The suggested donation is $25; you can contribute by check made out to Journey Home (241 Main St. Hartford, CT 06106) or via PayPal (no account needed) http://bit.ly/1OM1d9V

Journey Home’s mission is to accelerate progress towards ending chronic homelessness in the Greater Hartford region. Partnering with the region’s social service providers, Journey Home focuses on solving the problem of chronic homelessness with housing, employment, and support services, rather than managing it with emergency shelter.

As a catalyst for systemic change, Journey Home develops and implements innovative ways to improve the housing and service system in order to offer those experiencing homelessness paths toward independent, fulfilling, and productive lives.
