West Hartford Police are searching for a suspect who robbed the Subway at 450 New Park Ave. Sunday morning, and may have been in possession of a weapon.
According to police, the suspect is a black male, who was wearing dark-colored clothing and a dark baseball cap. He entered the store just before 10:30 a.m. Sunday, and confronted the clerk at the register, requesting it to be opened, police said
Police said that according to the clerk, although the suspect did not brandish a weapon he held one of his hands in his pants pocket and his “mannerisms, body language, and words led the employee to believe that he was in possession of a firearm.”
The suspect fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, and the employee also fled the store, heading into the adjacent parking lot and saw the suspect driving away in a tan-colored sedan, possibly a Nissan Altima, with an older/elderly white female passenger in the front seat. The vehicle headed north on New Park Avenue.
Police are investigating.
