A portion of Raymond Road in West Hartford will be temporarily closed to through traffic due to the progress of construction on the Park Road/I-84 interchange project.

Town officials said that Raymond Road between Park Road and Boulevard will be closed from Tuesday, May 29 through Friday, June 1, from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Residents, school buses, and emergency vehicles will be able to access the area.

On Tuesday afternoon, traffic headed south on Raymond Road was unable to make a right turn to head west onto Park Road.

New storm drains are being installed on Park Road, and as a result temporary lane closures and detours have been put into place.

Work is also continuing on the new highway off-ramp. According to town officials, construction of a new retaining wall has been completed, and the next step is grading the new off-ramp. Beginning in early June, traffic on the on- and off-ramps will undergo a temporary shift while additional concrete barriers are installed to separate motorists from the work zone.

Delays area expected, and town officials warn motorists to expect delays and seek alternative routes if possible.

More information can be found on the project page of the Town of West Hartford website.
