On Jan. 29, Watkinson School’s Boys Varsity Basketball defeated Christian Heritage 67-49.
West Hartford freshman Avery Jones is a big presence on the court and not just because of his 6-foot 2-inch stature. He intimidates teams down low and executes at the post.
A young team, Watkinson’s boys’ starting lineup includes four incoming players; Avery and the team had to work fast to become a cohesive and explosive unit. With the help of the West Hartford native, they are doing just that.
Back on Dec. 16, Watkinson was defeated by Christian Heritage School 54-47. With time to develop, Avery Jones and his team (led by Ryan Rees, head coach and head of Watkinson’s upper school and his assistants) have put in the time to nurture and gel this amazing squad.
On Jan. 29, the second game against Christian Heritage was played in Watkinson’s Wilson Gymnasium and it had a very different ending with an exciting win and final score of 67-49.
