Elizabeth Ryan has been named general manager of Westfarms, returning to the shopping center where more than 20 years ago she worked as director of marketing.
Ryan is a Connecticut native and graduate of the University of Connecticut, but has worked in other markets and brings to the role an extensive background in the retail industry, with experience in mall management as well as operations. She previously held positions at other luxury properties including Valley Fair in San Jose, CA; King of Prussia in King of Prussia, PA; and both The Promenade Shops at Evergreen Walk and The Shoppes at Buckland Hills in Connecticut.
“Westfarms has always been an exceptionally special shopping center to me,” Ryan said in a statement. “It is renowned for its exclusive offerings and vibrant atmosphere, and I am honored to be back at this iconic shopping destination. I look forward to collaborating with employees, merchants, and the community here to create a seamless and enjoyable shopping experience that exceeds our customers’ expectations.”
Ryan, who began her new role in June, takes over for Alberto Arebalo who was named general manager when Kevin Keenan retired in 2021.
Arebalo remains with Taubman – the owner of Westfarms – and has transitioned to Tampa where he is now general manager of International Plaza.
