Westfarms is continuing to welcome new retailers, particularly new-to-market brands, and has provided details of the additions, as well as updates on several construction projects that are underway.

Barriers are now in place on the upper level of the Nordstrom wing where luxury Italian lingerie brand Intimissimi will be opening a boutique this spring.

The brand was launched in Italy in 1996, and is one of the company’s owned by the Calzedonia Group – led by founder and billionaire Sandro Veronesi. Intimissimi represents high quality sophistication, romance, and glamour, as well as comfort and performance with an unmistakably Italian style. Specialities includes bras, panties, lingerie, knitwear, and pajamas for women, as well as underwear and pajamas for men.

The company has a strong commitment to sustainability through recycling fabrics and avoiding the use of disposable packaging, as well as providing information about the origin of fibers used to create each item they sell. According to their website, 94% of the items sold at Intimissimi are created in one of their 22 owned factories.

Intimissimi has stores throughout the U.S. and the world, but the 600 square foot boutique will be the brand’s first in central Connecticut.

Now under construction on the upper level of center court is Alo Yoga, which will be opening their first Connecticut location at Westfarms this fall. Alo is a popular and rapidly growing brand of premium “studio to street” yoga attire that can be worn not only for doing yoga, but also as streetwear.

More details will follow about plans for the arrival of the trendy brand as construction of their 5,500 square foot space progress.

“Westfarms is continuing the long-standing tradition of bringing new to market retailers to its shoppers,” said Westfarms spokesperson Amanda Sirica. “The addition of Intimissimi and Alo Yoga are brands that will resonate with our customers, and are an excellent addition to our existing retail offerings.”

Also coming soon to Westfarms is emerging brand A Sneaker City. The retailer has been” dubbed as New York’s number one spot to shop sneakers and streetwear,” popular for being able to procure hard-to-find styles.

A Sneaker City will opening its 1,900 square foot store on the lower level of the Nordstrom Wing this spring.

Pizza Hut opened this week Westfarms, Sirica said, on the lower level of Center Court next to the Macy’s Men’s store.

Pizza Hut is in the West Hartford section of the shopping center, and adds to the fast casual dining options at Westfarms. Although Pizza Hut, known for its personal pizzas, has more restaurant locations than any other pizza company in the world, this is currently the only location in West Hartford.

Also happening at Westfarms is the refresh of H&M. An extensive remodeling the 15,000 square foot space is underway, and will reopen soon to showcase a transformation of the décor of the the apparel retailer that features clothing, footwear, and accessories for women, men and kids.

Renovations will be completed in time for the introduction of the spring collection.

Major construction projects for the arrival of two furniture retailers continue.

Progress is well underway on the 9,700 square foot future location of Arhaus, and the project will also incorporate a refresh of the monochromatic two-story façade and Westfarms entrance facing New Britain Avenue. Arhaus, which offers premium home furnishings that “are sustainably sourced, lovingly made, and built to last,” plans to open this fall.

Arhaus is located in the West Hartford portion of Westfarms, and last April the Town Council approved updates to the Special Development District to accommodate the exterior renovation. This will be the first Arhaus location in the Hartford market.

Jordan’s Furniture has started construction of its spacious 125,000 retail and experiential space in the former Lord & Taylor store. While the initial plans called for a March 2024 opening, build-out is progressing ahead of schedule and opening may be sooner than expected.

This will be Jordan’s eighth location, but the first in the Hartford area. The brand offers name brand furniture and mattresses.
