Free outdoor yoga has been a popular summer activity in West Hartford for many years, and the collaboration between West Hartford Yoga and the town’s Department of Leisure Services has returned for 2024.

Certified WHY instructors will provide an hour of “outdoor bliss” through all-levels classes that include yoga postures, breath work, and meditation, and that will give participants the benefits of improved health and increased energy along with a chance to “relax among fellow yogis” in a beautiful setting.

“I love this collaboration because it gives our community another way to engage with our parks,” Leisure and Social Services Director Helen Rubino-Turco said. “The WHY is a destination for many of us – for healing, for flexibility, for stress reduction. And our parks are a perfect venue to support this welcoming recreational activity.”

Participants should bring a yoga mat, towel, and water. All ages and abilities are welcPre-registration is strongly recommended and while classes are free, donations are welcome.

The schedule of classes and instructors is as follows:

  • Sundays, from June 30 through Aug. 18, 9 to 10 a.m. at Beachland Park, with Tracie Gildea and Chris Printis
  • Wednesdays, from June 26 through Aug. 14, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., at Eisenhower Park, with Tia Blake and Chris Printis

WHY in the Parks is canceled in event of rain or wet grounds. Please pre-register for email cancellation alerts or visit our schedule page. For additional questions, email [email protected].
