The Moments and Journeys exhibition features work by accomplished Gallery One artists who explore moments in time – from memories to moments of discovery during life’s journey. This multi-media exhibition is hosted by the Gallery at the Guilford Art Center and features paintings, photography, collage, and mixed media.
Exhibiting artists include: Rosemary Cotnoir (Westbrook), Michael Fanelli (Clinton), Victor Filepp (New London), Karen Israel (West Hartford), Ann Knickerbocker (Old Saybrook), Brian McClear (West Hartford), T. Willie Raney (Ivoryton), Diana Rogers (Clinton), Rick Silberberg (Ivoryton), Jill Vaughn (Ivoryton), and guest artist Judith Barbour Osborne (Chester).
“As a photographer, I create images that offer viewers a glimpse into the interconnectedness of individual moments and the overarching journeys that give them meaning,” said Michael Fanelli.
“In recent years, my creative process delved into themes expressed in the monochromatic range between black and white,” said artist T. Willie Raney. “Since then, I’ve embarked on a vibrant exploration of color while rediscovering its nuances and reimagining its myriad applications in my life.”
“The beginnings of a painting – how a painting first backs away, but eventually takes on its own life – pulls me in. My new series of paintings marks time, gives me a ritual and a new-fired imagination. I feel like I am beginning a new moment in time all over again, every time,” said artist Ann Knickerbocker.
The exhibit is on view from May 3 through May 26 in the Gallery at the Guilford Art Center. The opening reception is on Sunday, May 5 from 2 to 4 p.m. Gallery hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday, noon to 4 p.m. The Guilford Art Center is located at 411 Church Street in Guilford, CT.
