On Monday June 11, the West Hartford YMCA held its Annual Meeting at the beautiful new Rockledge Grille overlooking the 18th hole at the Rockledge Golf Course.
The attendees – “Y” board members, sponsors and donors, friends of the “Y,” and a large group of Old Guard members – were treated to food and drink (including great Bloody Mary’s!) and a beautiful sunset from the newly expanded wrap-around deck of the soon-to-open restaurant, formerly Angelo’s on Main.
YMCA Executive Director Josue Irizarry and Board Chair Stacy Raney shared heartfelt thanks to all the donors and supporters in attendance. They included Marilyn Caruso, owner of the Toy Chest on Farmington Avenue in West Hartford Center and her husband John, and Kareen Wilson of Contemporary General Dentistry located in The Armory in West Hartford.
Tony Scott Young spoke glowingly about how the “Y” has helped his granddaughter grow and develop athletically and interpersonally.
El Harp, a longtime and passionate “Y” supporter and board member, was recognized for the myriad of contributions he makes, his unwavering personal support, and his work with the Old Guard’s Annual Bob Sherman Golf tournament that donates 100 percent of the net profits to support summer scholarships for “Y” campers.
Jeff Lee, also a “Y” board member, was recognized for his contributions with its Volunteer Recognition award.
