On Sept. 1 and 2, 2020, the Noah Webster House & West Hartford Historical Society invites the public to audition for West Hartford Hauntings – an outdoor theatrical tour of the town’s North Cemetery that will entertain 800 people over the course of the last two weekends in October.
Do you have what it takes to be a guide or character on this tour of West Hartford’s past? During the 15-year history of the production, actors have entertained and frightened audiences with stories of rail accidents, sickness, witches, murder, battles, quarrels over chickens, and more! More than mere entertainment, our actors connect audiences with real West Hartford history … in a scary setting.
We are looking for a diverse group of approximately 20 volunteer actors to bring this spooky tour to life. Five tour guides will lead guests through the tombstones and the remaining actors will portray past West Hartford residents. Male and female actors ages 12 and over are invited to audition; actors and actresses 17 and over are especially needed.
We are looking to fully represent the diverse character of our town. Improvisational experience for tour guides is a plus.
Actors will rehearse most Mondays and Thursdays from 6-7:30 p.m. throughout September and October. The outdoor show will be Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, October 22, 23, 24, 29, and 30, between 6-8:45 p.m.
Auditions will be held on September 1 and 2 from 5-8 p.m. at the Noah Webster House & West Hartford Historical Society, 227 South Main St., West Hartford, CT, 06107. Reserve your 10-minute spot to audition by visiting: https://signup.com/go/Fzovyig.
Not an actor? We also need volunteers for make-up, lighting, costumes, and the ticket booth. Contact us at [email protected] to learn more.
You can also experience West Hartford Hauntings as a member of the audience. Tickets are available at noahwebster.yapsody.com.
The museum would like to thank the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving for their continued support.
