After launching its resident company in the 2021-22 season and increasing the opportunities and involvement for its student Junior Corps de Ballet, Ballet Theatre Company (BTC) is thrilled to welcome new and returning advanced students to audition for this elite group on Aug. 20, 2022 from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. The company, which has prided itself on providing high-quality arts experiences to Greater Hartford since its inception in 1999, has steadily grown in recent years, offering the opportunity for local professionals to flourish, and for aspiring students to learn the ropes of a professional rehearsal environment.

A rigorous program intended for advanced dancers, BTC’s Junior Corps de Ballet provides numerous performance opportunities alongside BTC’s resident professional company. This elite group is by-audition only, and accepted members attend Junior Corps de Ballet class in addition to their training regimen at The School of Ballet Theatre Company. Select members of the group are also invited to train weekly alongside BTC’s professional dancers in company class.

During BTC’s 23rd Season, dancers from BTC’s Junior Corps de Ballet were selected to perform in Up Close: Fall, The Nutcracker, Aladdin, and BTC’s annual Ballet Soiree, gaining valuable experience learning repertoire, and rehearsing and performing alongside professional dancers. Additionally, select dancers from the group were invited to join BTC company dancers at a variety of excerpt performances throughout Greater Hartford.

The mission of BTC’s Junior Corps de Ballet is to provide serious dancers the opportunity to train at a high caliber, experience professional dance at a young age, and, if interested, prepare for a future in dance. Members of the Junior Corps de Ballet learn the importance of discipline and goal setting, leadership skills, working well with others, and professionalism in and out of the performing arts world.

An audition for interested dancers will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20 from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m., following the mandatory Company Summer Intensive: Ballet Bootcamp, which runs Aug. 15-19 from 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Potential auditionees are encouraged to read full information about program opportunities and requirements online here. All interested dancers must submit a completed audition registration form by Aug. 1 to be considered.
