“We are happy to host the Hunger Awareness Program,” said Shari Cantor, coordinator of the JFS Anja Rosenberg Kosher Food Pantry.

Members of the Jerusalem Unit of the Mandell JCC Camp Shalom had a fun and educational tour of the food pantry. As part of the program, the 28 campers played a hunger-focused game of Pictionary to reinforce the reality that hunger doesn’t discriminate.

The campers shopped at The Crown Market in West Hartford and donated 177 food items with a value of over $300 to help food insecure members of our community.

According to Mike Berg of Camp Shalom when coordinating the second annual event this year, “They had such a great time last year, I would love to do another shopping trip and have the kids have all the discussions, etc. again.”

JFS focuses on three core areas: Counseling, Education, and Community Support, and utilizes a variety of counseling treatment approaches and can help clients address a wide range of issues. Visit www.jfshartford.org to learn more about Jewish Family Services.
