Residential tenants began moving into The Landmark at the end of April, and as of Monday, June 13, 2016, the ground floor office space in the building recently developed by the Kaoud family will be completely occupied by Charles Schwab.

“It’s roughly triple our current location,” Charles Schwab Vice President and Branch Manager Michael Cavanaugh said about the nearly 9,000 square foot space.

Cavanaugh is thrilled with how the space, built out to specifications by Schwab’s design team in the company’s new bright white and blue color scheme, turned out. It’s one of the only New England offices to have the new look, he said.

As he gave a tour of the office just prior to the move, Cavanaugh said that nothing was overlooked in designing the space, including signs in the windows placed strategically so that the view of computer monitors inside is blocked from onlookers to ensure privacy.

All associates have dual monitor screens and adjustable height desks. “They really thought a lot about ergonomics,” Cavanaugh said. In the rear of the space, where there are five steps down to a lower level, an ADA-compliant elevator has been installed.

The office includes a coffee bar, and refrigerator, and most importantly – a dishwasher. “It’s been part of my management job to wash mugs,” joked Cavanaugh.

The large lobby area has a “client touchdown” office which can be used for a variety of purposes. There are two large communal spaces, including a conference room in which a 65-inch TV was about to be installed, and a 30-seat seminar room. The seminar space will allow the West Hartford office to assume the role as hub of the northeast, Cavanaugh said.

“We already have four large conferences set for here, with 25-30 employees coming to West Hartford for an overnight,” said Cavanaugh. In the first week alone, there will be about 30 people coming to the new space.

Client Relationship Specialist Marianne Donovan said that food brought in for the visitors will help support local businesses.

Cavanaugh said that Charles Schwab currently has 12 employees in West Hartford, but two more will be added immediately and more hires are planned. There is private office space for 17, plus available cubicle space.

Current clients and anyone else interested in seeing the space is invited to visit the week of June 13-17, Cavanaugh said. They will be able to have a tour, and snacks will be served.

Cavanaugh is looking forward to occupying brand new, state-of-the-art space, and he’s also pleased that the the office is large enough to become a hub.

“We’re really excited to be able to host huge gatherings here. I used to always have to go to New York,” he said.

Charles Schwab is located at 11 South Main St., West Hartford, CT. Phone: 860-570-4040.
