Conard Boys Swimming and Diving Improves with Win Over Wethersfield

West Hartford’s Conard High School boys swimming and diving is now 4-1 on the season.

Conard boys swimming and diving notched another win Tuesday evening, defeating Wethersfield 93-85.
The Red Wolves kicked off the meet winning the first three events, with Keaden Nguyen, Nick Hall, Andy Filotto, and Andrew Phan winning the 200 Medley Relay, Nathan Lowney winning the 200 Freestyle, and Hall and Filotto combining for a 1-2 finish in the 200 Individual Medley.
Despite not taking first in the 50 Freestyle or Diving, the Red Wolves still managed to outscore the Eagles with Phan, Christian Hunt, and Jeff Rosborg claiming 2-3-4 in the 50 Freestyle, and James Auciello and Henry Drolet claiming 2-3 in diving, giving the Red Wolves a 46-29 lead at the midway point of the meet.
The Red Wolves went on to claim first place in the remaining events with Filotto winning the 100 Butterfly, Nguyen finishing first in the 100 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke, Lowney cruising to first in the 500 Freestyle, and Rosborg winning the 100 Breaststroke. Filotto, Zach Goslee, Phan, and Lowney combined to win the 200 Freestyle Relay, and Hall, Lowney, Hunt, and Nguyen winning the 400 Freestyle Relay.
Regarding the team’s success and performance, Coach Jen Pollard said, “I’m really pleased with how the team has continued to improve and perform over the season. Across the board we continue to see times come down, with several people today posting best times. Our divers continue to be a critical part of our success and a huge asset to our team.”
Conard’s next meet is Friday, Jan. 20 at 3:45 p.m. at Cornerstone Aquatics Center vs. a very strong Enfield-Suffield Co-op team.
