The Most Reverend Leonard P. Blair, Archbishop of Hartford, has named the Reverend Michael Dolan as the Interim President of Northwest Catholic High School in West Hartford, Connecticut, effective Nov. 9, 2020.

“Fr. Michael Dolan takes over from Mrs. Maria Maynard as interim president, who is retiring after more than 40 years of dedicated service to Catholic education in the Archdiocese of Hartford. The Archdiocese thanks Maria Maynard for her dedicated service and we wish her peace, blessings, and a well-deserved retirement with family and friends,” noted Fr. Michael Whyte, Vicar for Education, Evangelization and Catechesis.

Fr. Dolan comes to the post of Northwest Catholic interim president with a strong love for Catholic education and the belief that Catholic school education prepares one well for future academic success as well as for life’s endeavors. He also noted that the Church depends upon well-formed lay leaders in the practice of their faith to help in her duty to evangelize the lay faithful.

He has served as pastor of many vibrant parishes, as director of Seminarians for the Archdiocese of Hartford, as campus minister both at Trinity College and the University of Hartford, and he brings much energy and enthusiasm to the Northwest school community. Fr. Dolan has expertise in parish management, education, and community building, which will translate well to the Northwest school community as he works with all of her constituencies including students, parents, faculty, and alumni.

“I am thankful to Archbishop Blair for this assignment and I am excited about this opportunity to serve NWC and its community as its president,” said Fr. Dolan. “This amazing Catholic school, which has been built upon the hard work and dedication of many generations of Catholic people – founders, clergy, teachers, staff, students and parents– since her doors opened in 1961, has an amazing history – and an even more fantastic future. I look forward to reaching out to the community-at-large, as we move our school forward to benefit the children. So many people have poured their hearts and souls into Northwest Catholic and we will continue their dedicated efforts as we educate minds, strengthen souls, and create strong moral character to lead the Church and our faith into the future.”
