Northwest Catholic inducted 22 students into the Tri-M Music Honor Society on October, 2, 2014. To be invited into membership in Tri-M, students must maintain a 3.33 grade-point average, exhibit leadership skills, be nominated by their music teacher, and demonstrate proficiency on their instrument or with their voice. Students should excel in music, and are required to give at least ten hours of service to the community each year.
Director of Choral Music Daniel Avery ’97 quoted Tri-M Music Honor Society founder Alexander Harley in his remarks to those in attendance, saying, “If we strive to cultivate musical sensitivity and perception in our students, we must likewise give adequate recognition for their efforts and achievements, and we must inspire them to strive for higher goals. In what better way than by bestowing upon them life membership in a worldwide honorary organization for musical youth?”
The new inductees include Ian D’Arcangelo ’16 of Avon, Madison Rowe ’15 of Bloomfield, Julia Christolini ’16 and Molly Mullen ’16 of Burlington, Mary Elizabeth Budnick ’16 of Canton, Jacquelyn Collas ’16 of Glastonbury, Samuel Spak ’16 of Granby, Niles Ball ’15 of Hartford, and Emily Kalinsky ’16 and Erin Tully ’16 of New Britain. Megan Grandell ’16 of Rocky Hill, Avery Hatch ’16, Kevin Kearns ’16, and Sean Kearns ’15 of Simsbury, Emily Gleixner ’16 of South Glastonbury, Kevin Dudley ’15 and Matthew Marshall ’15 of Wethersfield, and Ying Jiang ’16, Will Moustakakis ’16, Sarah Neubert ’16, Will Stanwick ’15 and Fiona Travers ’15 of West Hartford were also inducted.
Since 1961, Northwest Catholic’s mission has been to educate the whole person: mind, body, spirit, and soul. Enrollment for the Class of ’19 is now under way, and prospective students are invited to the Open House at Northwest Catholic on November 9, 2014.
