Graduation Parade Routes Set for West Hartford High Schools

Members of the Conard High School and Hall High School Class of 2020 will participated in a graduation car parade on Monday, June 15.

By Ronni Newton

Members of the Class of 2020 at Hall and Conard high schools will have a unique graduation experience due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and in addition to the “drive-in” ceremony that will be held at the Farmington Polo Grounds, graduating seniors from both schools have been invited to participate in a car parade on June 15 – the date that graduation was originally to have been held.

The Conard and Hall parades will be held simultaneously, both beginning at 7 p.m. from their respective schools.

Most seniors will be in the passenger seats of vehicles, and the students are being invited to decorate the vehicles to highlight their own unique interests.

The community is invited to come out and watch the parade, and cheer for the members of the Class of 2020. The routes for both schools are posted below. Please note that they will have to follow rules of the road and stop for lights and stop signs.

Conard parade:

Seniors will exit right from the Conard parking lot, turn right onto Berkshire Road, right onto Belcrest, left on Westminster continuing to the end. At Sedgwick Road, they will take a left, pass Sedgwick Middle School, right onto Wardwell, right onto Boulevard, right onto South Main Street and then left onto Webster Hill Boulevard ending at Webster Hill School.

Hall parade:

Seniors will exit right out of Hall, turn left on Albany Avenue all the way down to Prospect Avenue, turn right onto Prospect and then right onto Fern Street. The parade officially ends at Fern and Trout Brook, but the graduates may continue to their respective neighborhoods and elementary schools if desired.

For example, Aiken alumni could turn right on Trout Brook and go back to King Philip Drive and drive around that neighborhood. Bugbee alumni could stay on Fern Street and turn right on North Main Street and then turn on Asylum and drive around that neighborhood.

Conard students will officially graduate on June 24, and Hall’s graduation will take place on June 25. More information about those ceremonies can be found here.
