Hall Swim and Dive Team Members Named All-Americans

Two students from West Hartford’s Hall High School Swim and Dive team achieved All-American status for the 2022-2023 season.

Hall High School swim and dive coach John McClure has announced that two members of last year’s team have been recognized by the national Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (NISCA) as All-Americans.

Both were members of the Hall High School Class of 2023.

Meghan Tiernan was named an All-American in the 200 Individual Medley and the 500 Freestyle. Her achievements also included finishing second in the Class L 200 Individual Medley and she was the Class L State Champion in the 500 Freestyle, her coach said. She holds the record at Hall in the 200 Individual Medley and the 500 Freestyle, and was also a member of the school-record-setting 200 Medley Relay team.

Tiernan signed a letter of intent and attend Division I Villanova University this fall, where she plans to continue swimming as a college athlete.

Jonah Genser was named an All-American in the 1-meter diving event.

Genser was the Class L State Champion in the diving event and was fourth at the State Open in the spring of 2023. He holds the record at Hall for both the 6-dive (the norm at dual meets) and 11-dive events (championship meet format).

He plans to attend University of California at Irvine this fall. McClure said that Genser was not planning on dividing in college.
