To the Editor:
Most of my life has been in public service. I know good leaders get results that make a real difference in our lives. That’s the leadership Ned Lamont delivers for Connecticut. Governor Lamont stabilized state finances and took Connecticut from deficit to surplus. He made paid family leave a reality.
Governor Lamont raised the minimum wage and indexed it to inflation. He made historic investments in education, infrastructure, and workforce development while creating a transformative early childhood endowment. Governor Lamont gave working families a tax cut and increased state funding to help local property taxpayers.
Governor Lamont responded very effectively to the COVID crisis and the recession that followed. He focused on long-term sustainability rather than short-term fixes. Connecticut has a stronger state economy, a state surplus for future challenges and has paid down over $11 billion in previously unfunded state liabilities.
Governor Lamont also continues to push back hard against all the corruption in Washington and Trump’s assault on our democracy.
Governor Lamont’s political opponents in the primary and general election either offer endless state spending, magical thinking about taxes or giant cuts with no regard for people’s lives or balancing the budget. Unlike Josh Elliott, who missed over 400 votes in the State Legislature just this year, Ned Lamont is always on the job.
Only one candidate for governor has kept his promises, delivered results and provided a clear roadmap to keep Connecticut moving forward. It’s Ned Lamont and that’s why he has my vote for him in the August 11th primary.
