Noah Webster House Offers ‘Winter Wonderland’ Workshops

The Noah Webster House and West Hartford Historical Society will offer a series of workshops for kids during December school vacation week.

Monday, Dec. 28, 9 a.m. to noon
Let it Snow I: Make a sparkling snowman treat box and fill it with goodies. Bake delicious snowflake butter cookies.
Monday, Dec. 28, 1 to 4 p.m.
Let it Snow II: Create a cotton ball frame or wreath to hang on your wall. Make a penguin ornament and learn some fun penguin facts.
Tuesday, Dec. 29, 9 a.m. to noon
Doll Making: Girls and boys will create dolls! Fabric and yarn dolls, gingham dolls, handkerchief dolls, or all three! All materials provided.
Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1 to 4 p.m.
Fun with Cork: Children will be creative making trivets & coasters out of cork. They will make their own design and decorate them.
Wednesday, Dec. 30, 9 a.m. to noon
Hearth Cooking: Hearth Cooking, a child’s favorite. Young cooks will use colonial period recipes and cook over an open hearth the old-fashioned way! Note: registrations fill up quickly
Wednesday, Dec. 30, 1 to 4 p.m.
Jewelry Making: Children will have lots of fun making dyed pasta bead jewelry. Necklaces, bracelets, chokers, and head bands! Not for eating!
Thursday, Dec. 31, 9 a.m. to noon
Happy New Year: Create a miniature New Year’s Eve Ball to drop at midnight while wearing the New Year’s hat that you made, and use the festive noisemaker to celebrate bringing in the New Year!
The museum offers this series of workshops for kids during December school vacation week. The program fee is $25 per child, per workshop, and $20 for museum members. Please pack your child a snack. Registration is required. Call the Education Department at (860) 521-5362 x 14.
Bring a bagged lunch when registering kids for both sessions! We are a peanut free facility.
Cancellation Policy
Requests for refunds (minus a 10 percent processing fee) will be honored up to 1 week before the start of the workshops. Full refunds will be given if the session is cancelled due to under enrollment.
