Register by Wednesday for Third Annual ‘Park to Park’ Walk around West Hartford

Friends of Fernridge Park has organized the third annual ‘Park to Park Walk,’ which will begin at 7 a.m. on June 15, and take walkers through each of West Hartford’s parks.

Friends of Fernridge Park will hold the third annual “Park to Park Walk” around West Hartford – covering an approximately 15-mile route, at a somewhat leisurely pace that includes rests – allowing participants the opportunity to set foot in each of the town’s parks.

Wednesday, June 12 is the last day for registration for this year’s walk.

The walk will begin at 7 a.m. Saturday at Fernridge Park, on Fern Street, and is expected to last through mid-afternoon when walkers return to Fernridge Park.

Along the way, walkers will visit (in order) Wolcott, Beachland, Kennedy Memorial, Vanderbilt, and Eisenhower parks. New this year is travel along West Hartford’s linear park – the Trout Brook Trail. Walkers have the option of joining, or leaving, the walk at any point during the event.

Opportunities remain for businesses to sponsor the Park to Park Walk 2019, to support a unique, annual community event that is rapidly gaining followers. A sponsorship form can be found below.

Proceeds from the walk will be used for improvements to Fernridge Park.

Friends of Fernridge Park, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to maintaining and enhancing the natural beauty and recreational features of Fernridge Park. The aim is to ensure that the park, located in the heart of West Hartford, remains an exceptional resource for all town residents, now and into the future.

Registration is $20 for those 18 and older, and there is no cost for anyone under age 18, but registration is required.
