Just in time for Valentine’s Day, lovers of New Haven’s legendary Sally’s Apizza will be able to enjoy their favorite pizza from a new location, within the Jordan’s Furniture store at Westfarms, and also experience a birds-eye view of the retailer’s unique state-of-the-art 80-foot high-resolution LED screen where sporting and entertainment events as well as original content will be featured.

The newest Sally’s Apizza will open at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, a spokesperson announced.

And on Valentine’s Day, for the first time ever, Sally’s head chef Bret Lunsford will be collaborating with entrepreneur and food enthusiast Brooklyn Peltz Beckham – oldest son of David Beckham and Victoria Beckham – to offer the “Angel Fire” pizza. The white pie is topped with Cloud23 hot habanero chicken, pepperoni, clouds of whipped ricotta, and also Beckham’s Cloud23 sweet pepperoni jalapeño pepperoni sauce. Angel Fire will be available at all Sally’s locations, including Westfarms, for a limited time only from Valentine’s Day through March 14.

When Jordan’s Furniture opened at Westfarms in December 2023, the excitement skyrocketed to an even greater level when Jordan’s Furniture President and CEO Eliot Tatelman unveiled plans for the build-out of an embedded Sally’s Apizza restaurant in the store. Build-out began shortly thereafter.

“We are excited to welcome Sally’s Apizza,” Westfarms General Manager Elizabeth Ryan told We-Ha.com. “This iconic brand and its unique dining experience, nestled within Jordan’s Furniture, is an excellent addition to Westfarms.”

The Sally’s dining area has seating for 85, and features caramel-colored leather booths with full views of the giant screen. There’s also a large bar area with 20 hi-top tables plus another 15 bar stools. The restaurant is accessible from the lower level entrance to Jordan’s Furniture (the former Lord & Taylor store space), but also has a private exterior entrance from the parking lot.

“We are proud of our partnership with the visionary leadership team at Jordan’s Furniture, providing Connecticut food lovers with an incredibly exciting destination to enjoy our legendary pizza,” Christian Bonaventura, Sally’s Brand Advisor, said in the announcement of the opening. “The screen is truly a marvel, like nothing you’ve ever seen at a restaurant. The experience of enjoying Sally’s iconic pizza in front of this massive 80-foot wide screen is definitely special. We are also thrilled about our partnership with Brooklyn Peltz Beckham. As Sally’s continues to build upon its culinary leadership in pizza, our goal is to introduce more limited offerings with tastemakers like Brooklyn,” he added.

The menu for the Westfarms location features 10 varieties of Sally’s signature New Haven-style apizza – classics and speciality pies – that are all handmade, coal-fired, and crafted with the characteristic “thin charred crust, tangy tomato sauce and the light touch of mozz that the brand is famous for.” Pies are available in 12-, 15-, and 18-inch sizes, and extra toppings are also available. Seasonal specialties – like the Angel Fire – are also featured on a rotating basis.

The Westfarms Sally’s location has a full menu that in addition to pizza also includes appetizers, salads, and entrees. Highlighted in the announcement are some of Chef Lunsford’s specialities that include: “Italian Wings with Calabrian Chili; House-Made Meatballs served in our signature marinara, and a robust list of salads including a Caesar and a Classic Wedge. A selection of entrees is offered including Chicken Parmesan and pastas like Rigatoni Vodka and Fettuccini Bolognese.”

Lunch specials, served Monday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., include coal-fired “Panuozzi” sandwiches as well as personal-sized pizzas and salads.

There’s also a full bar, with a curated wine list available by the glass as well as wines from the U.S. and Italy by the bottle and draft beers that include the signature “Sally’s Apilz” pilsner specially created by Two Road Brewing. The cocktail menu includes classics like the Italian Old Fashioned and Sicilian Margarita, as well as several “Spruzzos,” and mocktails. Several of New Haven’s Foxon Park sodas are among the fountain beverage offerings.

The dessert menu features Italian classics – cannoli pie, olive oil cake, and tiramisu.

The iconic Sally’s Apizza New Haven-style pizza restaurant and bar was founded by Salvatore “Sally” Consiglio in 1938, and while the Westfarms location is brand new, elements like the signature red and white colored tiles on the oven evoke the spirit of the original location on New Haven’s Wooster Street. The wood-paneled walls are decorated with autographed memorabilia.
