Saturday Will Feature Halloween Stroll, Scarecrow Contest Kickoff and More

The annual Halloween Stroll will be held on Saturday in West Hartford Center and Blue Back Square, and while you are strolling, check out and vote for your favorite scarecrow.
There will be many more activities for kids, as well as adults, to enjoy. Local bands will be playing kid-friendly music, local sports mascots will be strolling the streets and posing for photos, a fire truck will be available for climbing aboard, and there will be crafts, prizes, and food galore.
While you are strolling in West Hartford Center, check out the 10 artist-created scarecrows. You can vote for your favorite on We-Ha.com, and automatically be entered to win a shopping spree. You may want to take photos of them, or vote right away on your smartphone so you don’t forget.
The scarecrows have been created by local artists and designers, based on the inspiring stories from the 10 Connecticut Children’s Medical Center patients who are ambassadors for the 2015 West Hartford Center Kidscard program.
Scarecrows can be found at Hope & Stetson, Central Optica, DeRobertis Jewelers, Labrazel Home, Gilley Kitchen & Bath, BK&Co., Kimberly Boutique, Fleet Feet Sports, Lux Bond & Green, and Philip David Jewelers. To vote for your favorite scarecrow, click here.
Renee DiNino from The River 105.9 will be making a special appearance at the Kidscard Corner in the Webster Bank parking lot on LaSalle Road, and many of the Kidscard ambassadors will also be in attendance. Cards, which provide 20 percent discount at an extensive list of participating West Hartford Center and Blue Back Square merchants, will be avialable for sale.
Tickets to the YMCA’s Evening of Wine & Laughter will also be available for sale at the Kidscard Corner. That event is Nov. 7 at Town Hall, and will be emceed by radio personality Mark ”the Shark” Christopher. Comedy performances will include the work of Tommy Koenig, of Comedy Central and National Lampoon, and local comedian Rick Roberts.
In Blue Back Square, the annual “Trunk or Treat” celebration begins at 11 a.m. and will continue until 2 p.m. Radio station 96.5 TIC FM with be on hand with fun, treats, and giveaways, and there will be live entertainment from the Kenny Mehler Band.
Parking in the Town Hall lot will be available free of charge (first come, first served). Paid parking is also available in other area lots and on the street. Kidscard holders get $2 off parking in town-owned lots and garages.
The Moms & More Club of West Hartford’s Annual Halloween Stroll is produced in collaboration with the Town of West Hartford, the West Hartford Center Business Association, Blue Back Square, the West Hartford Chamber of Commerce, West Hartford Magazine, We-Ha.com, Whole Foods Market and the West Hartford YMCA.
