The Mandell JCC will presents the gallery exhibit ‘Temporary Spaces’ by Shira Avidor with an opening reception on Sunday, Sept. 18.
The Mandell JCC presents works from West Hartford resident, Shira Avidor, in Temporary Spaces, at the Chase Family Gallery at the Mandell JCC, Zachs Campus, 335 Bloomfield Ave., West Hartford, CT.
The exhibit runs Thursday, Sept. 8, through Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016, with a free Opening Reception with Shira Avidor onbSunday, Sept. 18, 2016, from 2 to 4 p.m.
Enigmatic narratives of spaces and objects that relate to a home or part of a house are portrayed as temporary and unstable in the paintings of Shira Avidor. Her room interiors, cots, tents, mattresses, rugs, bowls, and various objects found in a dwelling show traces of a human presence echo an isolated and uncomfortable place. Both beautiful and quiet, Avidor’s work provokes contemplation of our own spaces.
Both the exhibit and Opening Reception with the artist are free and open to the community.
