Living up to its mantra of “Helping Every Star Shine,” West Hartford Community Theater awarded its annual scholarship to outstanding theatrical students.
Each of the three recipients received $1,000 for use to continue their study of theater craft this fall.
WHCT’s selected 2023 honorees are Mya Ramos and Mikayla Galimore of Capital Community College and Charlotte Willson of Conard High School’s Class of 2023. High School honorees will be furthering their education in the theater arts. College honorees are currently enrolled in the theater arts program at Capital Community College.
The students apply for the scholarship by submitting transcripts, audition tapes, recommendation from teachers demonstrating their commitment to their studies and letters of intent as to why they should be considered for this scholarship. Each scholarship winner is determined by WHCT’s selection committee.
Along with awarding annual scholarships to talented students, West Hartford Community Theater produces a variety of shows each year, including the WHCT Singers free concert at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 27 in Blue Back Square, and an upcoming musical, The Drowsy Chaperone, this November.
