West Hartford’s Department of Public Works residents to help ensure that catch basins near their homes are clear to avoid street flooding.

Submitted by West Hartford Public Works

On evening of Dec. 24, forecasters are predicting we will get 1-2 inches of rain. Combined with three days of unseasonably warm temperatures melting the 11 inches of snow, there is a risk of flooding.

You can help prevent this situation by clearing away snow and ice from the top of the catch basin that is near your home.

There are over 7,600 catch basins throughout town. We simply do not have enough crew to clear all them in two days. Can we count on you to help?

Thank you for doing your part to keep West Hartford’s streets safe.
