A portion of Trout Brook Drive will remain closed south of Park Road while crews repair a “significant gas leak” that was discovered overnight, police said.
According to police, officers on patrol at 1:30 a.m. Thursday noticed a strong odor of natural gas near 700 Trout Brook Dr.
The West Hartford Fire Department and Connecticut Natural Gas crews responded and confirmed the leak.
Trout Brook Drive is closed Thursday morning in both directions, and will remain closed for at least the morning commute, police said.
According to police, the leak did not require any evacuations of nearby residents.
Northbound traffic is being detoured eastbound onto White Avenue to South Quaker Lane, and southbound traffic will need to use Park Road.
School bus companies as well as local transit companies have been notified of the road closure and are making accommodations.
