Voices of Hope invites the public to attend the 8th Annual Greater Hartford International Holocaust Remembrance Day, commemorating the January 1945 Liberation of Auschwitz, on Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018, at The Emanuel Synagogue, 160 Mohegan Dr., West Hartford, CT. The event will begin at noon.

The United Nations General Assembly designated Jan. 27 – the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau – as International Holocaust Remembrance Day. On this annual day of commemoration, the UN urges every member state to honor the victims of the Nazi era and to develop educational programs to help prevent future genocides.

The program will include a dairy brunch, Holocaust Survivor Recognition Ceremony, and the presentation of the 2018 Chesed Award to Ben Cooper, a World War II Veteran and liberator of the Dachau concentration camp. The Award is bestowed on individuals who demonstrate exemplary “acts of loving kindness.”

The cost to attend is $18.00 for the program and brunch. The program is free for students, Holocaust survivors, and their families.
