The team of West Hartford teens who recently traveled to Holguin, Cuba, and other Cuban towns as part of the USA-Cuba Goodwill Baseball Tour, is continuing to receive attention for its baseball diplomacy.

“On Sunday, June 12, kids from West Hartford appeared on NESN Clubhouse, the commercial-free Red Sox pre-game show for kids that airs every Sunday 90 minutes before Red Sox games on NESN,” said NESN’s Mike Brown in an email.

The teens joined NESN host Gary Striewski, junior reporter TJ Hourigan, and Wally the Green Monster at NESN Studios in Watertown, for an international-themed show that included a segment on the Cuba trip. The show aired before the Red Sox vs. Twins game, and the West Hartford team was also part of the show’s studio audience for the remainder of the program.

During the show the kids presented host Gary, TJ, and Wally with USA Goodwill jerseys, similar to the ones they wore on their trip to Cuba, Brown said.
